Monogamous and Still Curious: What That Actually Means

It's entirely possible to want a monogamous relationship and still be genuinely curious about how other people structure their relationships. That curiosity doesn't mean you're secretly non-monogamous, or that monogamy is somehow the wrong fit for you. It just means you're paying attention to a topic that's become a lot more visible and talked about than it used to be.

The discomfort some people feel about that curiosity usually comes from a false assumption: that being interested in something means you're supposed to want it for yourself. You can find polyamorous communication practices genuinely useful, for example, without wanting a polyamorous relationship. You can be curious about how open relationships handle jealousy without wanting an open relationship.

Curiosity is just information gathering. What you do with it, or don't do with it, is a separate decision entirely, and you're allowed to stay exactly where you are while still being interested in how other people live.

Velvet Rabbit welcomes monogamous, ENM, and still-curious members on the same platform, so exploring the landscape doesn't require pretending you've already decided something.
