The Most Toxic Question in Modern Dating Is “What Are You Looking For?”

“So... what are you looking for?”

Marriage?

Casual?

Long-term?

Open?

Monogamous?

Poly?

Apparently everyone is supposed to know exactly how the relationship ends before they even know if they like the person.

That’s ridiculous.

Because the truth is:

Sometimes what someone wants depends on who they meet.

A person can swear they only want casual and accidentally fall in love.

Someone can desperately want marriage, meet the “perfect” person, and feel absolutely nothing.

Someone can think they’ll be monogamous forever.

Or poly forever.

Then life happens.

People happen.

Chemistry happens.

And suddenly that neat little dating-app dropdown doesn’t fit anymore.

That doesn’t mean lie.

It doesn’t mean waste people’s time.

It means being honest about what’s actually true right now.

“I want a relationship, but I’m not forcing one.”

“I’m married and open.”

“I eventually want monogamy.”

“I’m exploring.”

“I have no fucking idea yet.”

All valid.

Somewhere along the way, intentional dating started meaning everyone needed a five-year romantic business plan.

They don’t.

People need boundaries.

Values.

Dealbreakers.

And the ability to communicate like an adult.

Maybe the better question isn’t:

What are you looking for?

Maybe it’s:

What are you open to?

That leaves room for something dating apps are terrible at accounting for.

Humans.

And Velvet Rabbit is built around that.

Monogamous. Open. Poly. Exploring.

But the bigger difference is that Velvet Rabbit is not trying to keep people trapped on their phones endlessly swiping.

The point is to actually meet.

Through curated events, group experiences, dinners, community, and real-world connection, Velvet Rabbit is designed to move people from profile to conversation to being in the same damn room.

Because chemistry is hard to measure through a screen.

And eventually, someone has to put the phone down.

So the real question might not be:

What are you looking for?

It might be:

Who are you open to meeting?
